Ivins, UT (August 23, 2022) – Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Old Dixie Highway 91and Pioneer Road on Tuesday, August 23rd leaving both drivers with non-critical injuries.

According to sources, a 70-year-old woman driving an SUV made a lefthand turn onto Old Dixie Highway 91 from Pioneer Road and crashed into a westbound Ford Fusion driven by an 18-year-old male at about 9:00 a.m.

Airbags were deployed and both vehicles were towed from the scene. The driver of the SUV was cited for failing to yield.

Both drivers sustained non-critical injuries.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Failure to yield the right of way is one of the main causes of vehicle collisions in the United States. A private company that analyzes crash data supplied by insurance companies reported that failing to yield is the number four cause of fatal car crashes, behind driving under the influence, failing to maintain the proper lane, and speeding.

When a driver fails to yield, it can result in many types of serious accidents, such as head-on collisions and side-impact accidents. Failure to yield at a crosswalk can also put pedestrians and cyclists, who are extremely vulnerable due to their lack of external protections, in a very dangerous situation.
