West Bountiful, UT (June 07, 2022) – A garbage truck collided with several other vehicles on Friday, June 3rd in Bountiful when the truck’s operator failed to properly negotiate a curve.

Officers from the West Bountiful Police Department said that a garbage truck was exiting the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 at the exit for 400 North at about 10:00 a.m. when the incident occurred.

The truck operator failed to navigate a bend in the road and drove over the center median, where it collided with seven unoccupied cars in the parking lot of the Ramblin’ Roads Family Restaurant in the area of 400 North and 544 West.

An occupant of the garbage truck sustained non-critical injuries during the multiple impacts. No other injuries were reported.

A safety inspection determined that the truck had numerous safety violations, including inoperable brakes.

The driver was cited for the violations.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Defective Products in Utah

A dangerous product or defective product is any product that, either because of defects in its labeling, design, or manufacturing, or due to inadequate training, poor judgment, simple human error, or malicious intent, results in damage to property or causes the injury or death of an individual. Any commercially available product that has the potential to be dangerous, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vehicle components or parts, sports equipment, exercise gear, baby cribs, children’s toys, food, defibrillators, and more.

When products are poorly made or poorly designed, they can cause injuries and death to consumers, but these defects can originate from different places. Utah product liability laws recognize three types of product defects. Depending on your specific situation, you may be eligible to bring a product liability lawsuit against the distributor, wholesaler, designer, or manufacturer.

In a product liability case, victims are not required to prove that a company knowingly and purposefully unleashed a dangerous or defective product onto the unsuspecting public. They are only required to prove that the product presents a risk when it is used in an appropriate manner for its intended purpose. By working with engineers and other industry professionals, our product liability attorneys can pinpoint the exact defect that caused your injuries and start constructing a strong claim.

If you were injured or lost a loved one in an accident caused by a dangerous or defective product, reach out to our Utah personal injury attorneys at (801) 350-3506 to schedule a no-obligation, confidential review of your potential product liability claim.
