Salt Lake City, UT (November 17, 2021) – A construction worker was killed in an industrial accident at Salt Lake City International Airport on Wednesday, November 17th.
Salt Lake City Police were dispatched to the scene at about 8:40 a.m. for reports of an injured construction worker. Upon their arrival, first responders pronounced the victim dead.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Salt Lake City Police detectives are working with the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The airport has confirmed the worker worked for a sub-tier subcontractor.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
When victims are injured or killed in accidents through no fault of their own, they are often able to obtain compensation from wrongdoers to alleviate the financial costs they face for medical treatment, lost wages, property repairs, and a variety of other economic and non-economic damages.
The major benefit of a personal injury lawsuit is that it entitles victims or their families to compensation for pain and suffering, something not available under a simple worker’s compensation case. With a personal injury claim, victims may seek financial recovery for all of the damages they have sustained, including things such as lost wages, diminished earning capacity, medical costs, anticipated medical costs, lifelong disability, pain and suffering, and hedonic damages (decreased quality of life), and many other things as well.
The benefits available through worker’s compensation, which, at its core, is nothing more than an agreement between labor and business owners, are extremely limited.
When people are injured or killed in accidents caused by negligence, it is crucial that they or their surviving family members seek legal guidance from a skilled and knowledgeable personal injury attorney in Salt Lake City as soon as possible.
