Salt Lake City, UT (October 27, 2022) – A woman is in the hospital after a stolen pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle on Wednesday, October 26th.
According to Salt Lake City police, an officer ran the plates of a Ford pickup in the area of 1000 West and 500 South at about 5:00 p.m. and noticed it had been reported as stolen.
The officer did not pursue the truck, but observed the driver head northbound on 1000 West at a high rate of speed, run a red light, and collide with a car traveling eastbound on 400 South.
The driver of the struck vehicle was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. She is expected to survive.
Officers saw two males exit the truck and flee the scene. One of them has been apprehended and the other remains on the lam.
