Salt Lake City, UT (October 26, 2022) – A woman was sent to the hospital with injuries after a stolen truck ran a red light and crashed with another vehicle on the evening of Wednesday, October 26.
Police in Salt Lake City stated that an officer spotted a tan Ford pickup truck near 500 South and 1000 West at approximately 5:00 p.m., and, following running the license plate, learned that the truck was stolen.
Police stated that the officer refrained from chasing or following the truck, but said that the truck driver then headed north on 1000 west while speeding and collided with the passenger side of a car that was headed east on 400 South after running a red light.
While the incident was happening, an SLCPD car was patrolling 400 South and was forced to swerve to avoid a head-on crash with the other two vehicles. The patrol car clipped the back of the stolen truck, according to information from local police.
Authorities stated that the driver of one of the involved vehicles was transported from the scene with injuries deemed critical. No officers were hurt in the crash.
Following the incident, police said they saw two men flee the scene after exiting the truck. Police were able to arrest one of them, but the other is still on the run. Authorities in Salt Lake City continue to investigate the details of the incident.
No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time. Police continue to investigate.

Auto accidents cause injuries to millions of people per year in the United States. In Utah, over 60,000 people are hurt in car wrecks per year. Sustaining injuries in an auto accident can be extremely stressful. You may be suffering from serious pain due to your injuries while you deal with financial problems related to the crash itself, as well as emotional turmoil and economic losses.
When you or someone you love has been hurt in an auto accident, it is vital to figure out how the wreck happened. When an accident is caused by a negligent driver, those injured in the crash have the right to pursue compensation for their injuries and losses.
Talking with a personal injury lawyer is your best bet if you wish to seek compensation for your damages. Medical care, vehicle repairs, and more expenses that stem from your accident may qualify for financial compensation when you file a personal injury claim. You should not have to go broke paying for injuries that were caused by another person.
Additionally, negligent drivers need to be held accountable for their actions so they are less likely to hurt more people in the future. In the United States, negligent driving can land a person in jail or require them to pay steep fines. Gross negligence may have the negligent party pay the injured victim punitive damages, which are out-of-pocket fees awarded to the injured party.
