Utah Pedestrian Crashes

Anyone who chooses to walk as their mode of transportation is considered a pedestrian. Pedestrians are, basically, anyone who travels on a bike or on foot. Even if they are only walking across a small parking lot, they are still considered a pedestrian. Local and state laws govern when and how pedestrians can use Utah’s roadways. These rules are intended to keep pedestrians safe and prevent tragic collisions.

Even though intersections are regularly considered a space for vehicular and pedestrian use, not every intersection has crosswalks designated for pedestrian use. All intersections are able to be crossed by pedestrians, however. It should be considered that intersections traversed by vehicles traveling at higher speeds are often more unsafe for pedestrian travel, however, not off-limits.

Whenever a pedestrian is safely inside a crosswalk, drivers are expected, by law, to yield the right of way. Considering the vast difference between the weights and sizes of vehicles and pedestrians, it is vital for drivers to yield the right of way to those traveling by foot under any and all circumstances.

Due to the extreme increase in distracted driving accidents in the past decade, many drivers fail to notice pedestrians or express concern for their safety. In their hurry to get from point A to point B, many drivers put the lives of innocent pedestrians at serious risk. Pedestrians who become involved in car wrecks generally endure devastating injuries that impose dire and sometimes even permanent consequences on their lives.

Pedestrians travel totally unprotected at all times. Due to this fact, their injuries are regularly extremely severe when they become involved in collisions. Sadly, insurance companies will barely ever want to settle by providing full and fair compensation to pedestrians for their injuries and damages.

If you were hurt in a pedestrian crash, the insurance company will most likely do everything in its power to close out your claim as quickly and cheaply as possible. Unfortunately, you probably desperately need financial compensation in order to be able to recover financially, as well as physically and emotionally.

When you hire a personal injury attorney who can represent you following your pedestrian accident, you greatly increase your chances of obtaining just compensation for your losses. A skilled lawyer can help you figure out what needs to be done in order for you to get the money you need to make a full financial recovery.

If you were injured in a pedestrian crash, contact a Utah personal injury lawyer at 801-350-3506 to schedule a free consultation concerning your case.
