Industrial Accidents in Utah

Industrial workers are exposed to an increased risk of sustaining work-related injuries. This is due to the fact that industrial work sites pose multiple hazards. Even with rigorous work safety regulations in place, several dozen industrial workers receive significant injuries every year.

If you were injured or lost a family member in an industrial workplace accident, it is important to understand your legal rights. Victims of industrial accidents are able to file a workers’ compensation claim if they are hurt on the job. If, however, your accident was the result of a co-worker’s or employer’s negligence, you need to consider filing a personal injury claim against the at-fault party as well.

Workers’ comp benefits are not always enough to cover the damages another party caused you on the job site. It is vital that you are fully informed about all options available to you before you make a decision about seeking financial compensation.

Numerous factors can lead to industrial accidents. Some of the most common causes of construction site accidents include:

  • No or inadequate safety training: A lot of industrial workers have not been trained in safety protocols that are designed to keep them safe from the dangers they encounter at work. Even workers who have been trained may have had poor training or overlooked fundamental safety instructions, which can lead to injuries.
  • No or poorly maintained fall protection gear: Falls are the number one cause of industrial job site deaths and injuries. Many industrial workers endure life-threatening injuries like head or brain trauma, damage to the spinal cord, paralysis, and death when they fall from a height.
  • No or inadequate respiratory protection: Workers who breathe in toxic chemicals or certain types of dust and debris can develop serious respiratory conditions like asthma. It is also not uncommon for industrial workers to be diagnosed with lung cancer resulting from long-term exposure to asbestos, silica dust, and other industrial chemicals.
  • No or insufficient face and eye protection: Industrial workers frequently need to protect their faces and eyes. Collisions involving heavy machinery, chemical precipitates, and electrical shocks are the three main causes of face and eye injuries on job sites.
