Provo, UT (October 22, 2022) – One person died and two others were injured during an explosion at a residence in Provo on Friday, October 21st.

Police and fire crews responded to the scene in the area of 1050 North and 1600 West.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing an explosion moments before the fire, which was reported at about 6:30 a.m.

Crews quickly contained the fire, which broke out in a detached shed near the garage.

One responding officer and another person on the scene were injured while attempting to save the victim. Both are expected to recover.

Neighbors indicated that the structure was the homeowner’s tool shed, where he spent a great deal of his time caring for his home and lawn.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
