As published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a pedestrian is injured once every 8 minutes and a pedestrian death occurs once every two hours across the United States. Close to 5,000 pedestrians died as a result of car accidents in 2014. In that same year, 15% of all vehicular deaths were pedestrian fatalities.
The impacts of fatal pedestrian crashes throughout our state are something that most families are not prepared to deal with. The mental and emotional pain and suffering are only half of the battle. In many cases, families are deprived of sources of income they have grown to depend on. Additionally, they are often left with towering medical bills and funeral costs.
When victims pass away from injuries sustained in accidents caused by reckless, negligent, or careless drivers, their families may be entitled to compensation.
