Montezuma Creek, UT – One Killed, One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on SR-162

Montezuma Creek, UT (June 25, 2022) – One person died and another was hospitalized following a head-on accident in San Juan County on Saturday, June 25th. 

Officials said a pick-up truck and a car collided on State Route 162 near milepost 8 at about 4:30 p.m.

The vehicles were traveling in opposite directions just outside of Montezuma Creek when, for reasons still under investigation, one of the vehicles veered across the centerline of the roadway and collided head-on with the other.

One man died on impact, and another person was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition. 

The highway was shut down in both directions for several hours as police investigated.
