When a driver heads into oncoming traffic, the chances of a deadly head-on collision are high. These types of accidents are more violent than other two-vehicle crashes. Collision data shows that these head-on crashes have a 60% fatality rate. Even though these accidents only account for about 2% of all annual traffic crashes in the state, they cause about 10% of all annual crash fatalities.
Head-on collisions often force their survivors to endure catastrophic injuries. These crashes can occur when a driver fails to maintain control of their vehicle. This can be the result of drunk, distracted, or speeding drivers.
