Layton, UT (October 21, 2022) – A three-vehicle crash that took place at about 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20th in Layton turned fatal when one man died at the scene.

A 70-year-old man with severe injuries died on the scene in spite of life-saving efforts from responders. A 50-year-old woman was transported to a nearby hospital with non-critical injuries and a third driver was unharmed.

Police are still investigating but think the victim was pulling onto Highway 193 from an RC park near 930 East when his vehicle was t-boned by the 50-year-old woman.

Officials said the man’s pickup spun after being struck and crashed into the third vehicle.

All but one lane was shut down between Fairfield Road and Church Street as police investigated and cleared the area.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and her family in hopes of a full recovery.

Intersection Collisions in Utah

While all kinds of accidents can happen in an intersection, one of the most serious is a broadside collision. Often referred to as being T-boned, these dangerous crashes take place when the front end of one car crashes into the side of another. T-bone and other side-impact accidents caused the deaths of 1,770 vehicle occupants in 2017.

In one recent year, Utah’s 58 fatal intersection accidents constituted 21.2% of its car accident-related deaths, marking a 6.5% drop when compared to 2016, showing that almost half of the nation’s car crashes occur at intersections.

When injuries take place in a crash caused by someone else’s negligence, victims need to seek legal counsel from a car accident attorney in Utah. Whenever someone is injured and another person is the cause, they are qualified to obtain compensation for their losses.

If you were injured in an accident because of another person’s actions, contact our Utah personal injury attorneys at (801) 350-3506 to schedule a free claim evaluation to see how we can help you.
