Kanab, UT (March 23, 2021) – On Sunday, March 21st, a 3-year-old boy was killed when the 4×4 in which he was riding rolled over while attempting to climb a steep trail in Hog Canyon in Kane County.

Fatal 4×4 Accidents in Kanab

More than 180 Utah ATV accidents were reported during 2016-2017. These accidents involved 225 operators, left 127 victims seriously injured and resulted in the deaths of 24. Dangerously high speeds have routinely been the leading cause behind these accidents.

Officials have reported that, as far as OHVs such as ATVs are concerned, speeding does not necessarily imply that a posted speed limit was exceeded, but rather that the operator of an OHV was driving at a speed that was too high for prevailing trail or road conditions. Driver inexperience was also a major contributing factor.
