Whenever a driver plows into oncoming traffic, the odds of a fatal head-on collision are high. These types of accidents are more violent than other two-car crashes. Collision data shows that these wrong-way crashes have a 60% fatality rate. Even though these accidents only make up about 2% of all annual traffic crashes in the state, they are responsible for nearly 10% of all yearly crash fatalities.
Head-on car accidents often force their survivors to endure catastrophic injuries. Head-on collisions can occur when a driver fails to keep control of their vehicle. This may be the result of distracted, speeding, or drunken drivers.
