Duck Creek Village, UT (October 10, 2022) – A 7-year-old was killed in a car crash on State Route 14 in Kane County on Friday, October 7th.

The incident occurred at about 6:10 p.m. near Duck Creek Village during a collision between a Kia Soul compact passenger car, a 2012 Ford F350 pickup truck pulling a trailer, and a 2008 GMC pickup truck.

According to reports, the GMC was traveling westbound on SR-14 near milepost 27 when it veered across the center line and clipped the trailer of the oncoming Ford.

The driver of the GMC then lost control and continued westbound, crossing completely across the eastbound lanes where it collided head-on with an eastbound Kia being driven by a mom with her two kids in the back seat.

All of the Kia’s occupants were properly restrained but one of her children, a 7-year-old boy, was fatally injured when he was thrown against the back of the front passenger seat.

The other two occupants, the mother, and another child were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

The GMC driver was airlifted in critical condition.

Both sides of SR-14 were closed for about three hours while the collision was investigated and the roadway was cleared.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
