Cedar City, UT (November 2, 2022) – A two-car accident happened at an intersection in Cedar City on the evening of October 31. Shortly after 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a white Buick SUV crashed for currently unknown reasons.

Sources say that one driver involved failed to yield at the intersection of 200 North and Main Street. Police said the SUV driver was traveling north on Main Street when the vehicle was struck by the pickup truck that was headed east.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage due to the impact. Traffic was backed up for approximately an hour while the scene was under investigation.

Police in Cedar City as well as Cedar City Fire Department personnel were seen working at the crash site. Authorities in Cedar City continue to investigate the details of the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Utah Car Accidents

Crash statistics reported by the Utah Department of Public Safety show that auto collisions across the state are injuring more and more people each year. In 2020, over 53,000 car crashes occurred in the city of Salt Lake alone. These wrecks caused at least 16,000 people to sustain severe injuries. That same year, approximately 270 individuals lost their lives in auto accidents in the United States.

Some of the most common reasons auto collisions happen in the state of Utah are:

  • Aggressive driving/road rage/offensive driving
  • Drunk/drugged driving/driving under the influence
  • Fatigued driving/excessive tiredness
  • Driving at unsafe speeds
