Cedar City, UT (May 31, 2022) – Two people died when their motorcycle crashed after it struck a pronghorn antelope in the roadway in the area of Red Canyon in Garfield County on Monday, May 30th.
The incident took place at about 9:45 a.m. close to milepost 11 on State Route 12 when a Harley-Davidson motorcycle occupied by two people from Nebraska crashed.
According to sources, the riders were traveling westbound when it struck a pronghorn antelope in the roadway. The impact caused the driver to lose control of the bike and both occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
The motorcycle’s operator, who has since been identified as 62-year-old Levi S. Grant, a resident of Chadron, NE., died at the scene. His passenger, identified only as a 61-year-woman, also from Chadron, was transferred by medical helicopter to a regional trauma center in extremely critical condition. She died of her injuries the following day.
